Yesterday I mentioned John Bingham’s 100 Day Challenge whose requirement is 30 minutes of non-stop activity. This morning I logged into Facebook and saw Esther posted about the challenge and then suggested “We could call ourselves the 30 Minute Club.” Hmm maybe she’s onto something.
What I like about the challenge is the simplicity. Like many runners I consider myself an active person, I run, race, ride bike tours and am no stranger to the gym. I’ve also been inconsistent — I’ve taken time off after marathons — don’t ride in the winter, and have bailed on gym workouts from time to time.
How hard is it find 30 minutes a day? You don’t have to go for an intense run — yesterday Esther and I took Chico for a long walk and were able to meet the day’s activity. If it’s cold outside go to the gym, if gyms aren’t your thing, how about Wii fitness? Just 30 minutes a day for 100 days. Who’s with me?
Today’s 30 Minute Update – Today Esther and I went out for a four-mile run in Alley Pond Park. It felt great to go for a run in the park. Having a workout partner only makes things easier.
